the brooch bouquet

If your mother was married anytime between 1979 and 1985 the idea of wearing her dress for your big day could be down right frightening.  While some of you are saved by the "my mother loved Grace Kelly" dress, the rest of us are going to have to find a way around the shoulder pads and peacock-esque rhinestone headbands (don't laugh, they're out there).

Here is an excellent way to incorporate your family history in your big day, (without the glittered pick ups).

For the crafty bride and groom there are a great deal of do-it-yourself tutorials out there to construct your own brooch bouquet.  The wonderful people at No Impact Bride have a fabulous an easy to follow plan available at their blog.  You will need to collect about 50 brooches before you start, so give yourself time.

If you aren't feeling so crafty, bouquet builders are hard at work on Etsy.  Consider inviting your shower attendees to bring a brooch to be included, take a little of each of them with you down the aisle.

The possibilities are endless, follow me on Pinterest for more ideas.
